Kerry Cork Health Link Bus is a free community service open to all, without referral.
We aim to provide social support to individuals on their cancer journey.

Our signature service the Kerry Cork Health Link Bus started in 2010 with a 14 seater minibus and as demand quickly grew so did this vital bus service.

Now our bus (purchased in 2013) travels everyday to Cork University Hospital (with the exception of Christmas Day, St Stephens Day and Public Holidays). The route services Kerry and parts of Cork. This free service is offered on a confidential basis.

To support our service users on their cancer journey, we have secured a block booking with Cork University Hospital (CUH). This means that those travelling on the bus are scheduled together and do not have to endure long delays waiting for appointments. The users experience great emotional and social support from each other.

Radio Documentary

In a documentary recorded for the charity by Tom McCarthy, (a student on the Kerry ETB Media Techniques Radio Course run by Radio Kerry Training) and Grainne McPolin, past and present service users talk about their experiences aboard the Kerry Cancer Support Group, Kerry - Cork Health Link Bus, and how vital it is in their journey back to health. What some may not know is that many of those receiving treatment have to travel from Kerry to Cork every day … The Kerry - Cork Health Link Bus is comfortable, and is equipped with the essentials which help to make the journey a little easier.

Funding comes entirely from sponsorship and fundraising events. Events are organised by the public to raise funds and all monies raised remain in the county. No Government or HSE funding is received. With predicted growth rates for the incidence of cancer (the National Cancer Registry of Ireland forecast by 2020 the number is set to rise to over 40,000 cases) we at Kerry Cancer Support see an even bigger need for our services. By supporting us, you are making a difference to the emotional well-being of the users and that of their families. You can give cancer patients that peace of mind that they have a safe, secure and supportive method of attending their appointment in Cork University Hospital.

Education and Information Service

We visit schools, community groups and other organisations to provide them with information on:
- Cancer Prevention
- Reducing the Risk of Cancer

- Healthy Lifestyle.

With your support and donations we can continue this vital service.
